How to Fix MacBook’s There is No Connected Camera Problem

There are a couple of  ways to fix the “there is no connected problem” in Mac. Do follow all of them one by one until you have resolved the issue.

Try Restarting your MacBook

The very step you can try to fix this problem is to try restarting your MacBook. Restarting MacBook helps to fix different errors and problems, and it may fix this problem too in your case. So restart your MacBook once and check whether the problem has gone away. If not then try our Next Method.

Try Using Terminal Command

If the above method didn’t work for you, then no need to worry. Here is anther method which may help you to solve this problem. In this method, we will try to solve this problem with the help of Terminal command. To do so follow the steps given below.

  • First of all, you need to quit/close all the apps which are require to use the camera.
  • Now go to Application.
  • In Applications, Go to Utilities.
  • Now in Utility folder, Open Terminal.
  • Now you need to type the following command in the command strings and just click on return.
sudo killall VDCAssistant
  • Now once again type the following command in the command strings and click on return.
sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant

Once done, type admin password and relaunch the Photobooth, to check whether it’s working or not.

That’s it. Check whether the problem there is No camera Connected has gone away or not.

Reset the System Management Controller

If the problem persists, then try this fix. If your MacBook’s battery is removable, then you can just shut down your MacBook, take out the battery and charger and hold the power button for few seconds. Now reinsert the battery and the charger and Power on your MacBook and check whether the problem continues or not.

This is all you can do in order to solve the ”No Connected Camera” problem. “There is no connected Camera” problem is not a major issue, and you should be able to resolve it by following the steps given above.

  1. Those commands solved the issue for me (OS X 10.12.5).

    That said, watch out for that stray quote in the second command! The complete command should only be: sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant
