Windows 10 comes pre-installed with the Miracast wireless display feature that allows you to project your screen to other supported devices. Additionally, it also comes with the Connect app for casting your phone’s screen to your PC.
If you have recently updated to the newer version of Windows 10, you may notice the Connect app is missing. This is because Microsoft does not install the wireless display feature by default anymore.
Now it is offered as an optional feature. So, to get the project to this PC option, you have to install the Connect app manually. In this article, we explore how to install the Connect app in Windows 10.
There are two ways to install the Connect app in Windows to be able to mirror your phone to PC. I have listed both the methods in the article below.
1. Install Connect app from the settings
1. Click on Start and select Settings.
3. Open Apps.
4. Under Apps & features, click Optional features.
5. Click the Add a feature button.
6. Search for Wireless Display.
7. Select Wireless Display and click on Install.
Once installed, click on Start, and the Connect app is available under the Recently Added section.

If you see the Install Failed message when installing wireless display from settings, try installing it using the command prompt.
2. Install Connect app using the command prompt
1. Click on Start and type cmd.
2. Click on Open as Administrator.
3. In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and hit enter:
DISM /Online /Add-Capability /CapabilityName:App.WirelessDisplay.Connect~~~~0.0.1.0
Wait till you see the success message. Once installed, click on Start and open the Connect app from the Recently Added section.
Uninstall Wireless Display in Windows 10
If you want to uninstall the Wireless Display and the Connect app in Windows 10, here’s how to do it.
1. Click on Start and select Settings.
2. Click on Apps.
3. Select Optional features.
4. Under Installed features, search for Wireless display.
5. Select and click on Uninstall.
That will uninstall the Wireless Display and Connect app from your Windows 10 computer. If you want to install it again, repeat the steps from step 1 or step 2.
Using the Connect app
To project your phone to Windows 10 PC screen, open the Connect app on your PC. Next, open the Wireless Display or Smart View option on your phone. Select your PC from the list of devices shown to start projecting.

It dosn’t work.
Windows 10 no longer has a “Wireless Display” optional feature anymore. Might as well delete this article 🙁
